Mozambique: Five police officers suspected of stealing 56Kg of gold, 900 grams of tourmalines - ...
Former director general of the Institute for the Promotion of Exports (IPEX) Cecilia Candrinho was sentenced on Tuesday to a one year and ten month suspended sentence for abuse of office, and ordered to pay the state sixty million meticais in compensation within two years.
The case concerns direct contact with the company promoting the Agricultural, Livestock and Commercial Fair of Maputo (FACIM).
The Third Section of the Judicial Court of the City of Maputo found that Candrinho had abused her functions as director general of IPEX and benefited from her conduct of a private entity without the supervision of the administrative court and the monitoring of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce.
The ruling was delivered by Third Section of the Judicial Court of the City of Maputo judge Helena Matola. Candrinho has filed an appeal, with the acquiescence of the judge.
The company invoiced sixty million to promote FACIM during its five-year mandate. Lawyer Alexandre Chivale says that if there is any loss to the state, it is the amounts paid today to the same company, which continues to promote events in the same way as in the past.
