The president of the Mozambican Women’s Organization (OMM), Isaura Nyusi, has said in Maputo that dialogue is the best way to achieve peace in the country, the AIM news agency reports.
Isaura Nyusi was speaking at the opening ceremony of an OMM National Council session held under the motto “Mozambican women in national unity, peace and progress.”
“It is only through dialogue that all our envisaged purposes can materialise, including peace,” she said.
The First Lady praised Mozambican women for their selflessness in the process of restoring peace and harmony in Mozambique, as well as their contribution to development.
“I want to commend women for their commitment and dedication to combating crime and domestic violence. I want to commend them for their participation in the search for peace, a component that contributes to the development of the country and increase production and productivity,” she said.
The OMM president also called on Mozambican women to work hard to reduce the number of early pregnancies and the consequent abandonment of education in the country.
“Let us eradicate maternal and child mortality, malaria, tuberculosis, HIV/Aids and all other endemic diseases,” she said.
