Seven firefighters have been charged with stealing goods from the scene of a fire in a Shoprite store in the city of Xai-Xai in Gaza province.
According to the Diario de Mozambique, the firefighters stole goods after having extinguished the fire, which lasted about four hours and was caused by an electrical fault.
Gaza police spokesman Jeremias Langa is quoted by Diario de Mozambique as saying that the process of identifying those involved is underway.
The commercial property has not been reopened since the fire, last Friday July 22, and a strong police contingent has been deployed to prevent looting.
