Big fire at Tete’s Shoprite – Folha de Maputo report

A major fire has been devouring the Shoprite shopping centre in the city of Tete since last night, online Folha de Maputo reports.
According to the same source, firefighters were called in to try to quell the flames, but so far had not yet been able to completely extinguish the fire that even threatened neighbouring shops and a bank.
The shopping centre manager, quoted by Radio Moçambique, says that firefighters made it to the scene on time but found the store closed, which made their work difficult.
The same manager reportedly suspects that an electrical short circuit may have caused the fire, and says that everything is destroyed inside the store.
The head of the fire department said that it was premature to advance the causes of the fire, but added that at the moment it is controlled.
