The Minister of Development and Trade of Finland, Ville Skinnari, starts today a three-day working visit to Maputo today (26-02).
Minister Skinnari will meet the President of the Assembly of the Republic, Esperança Bias; Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Verónica Macamo; Minister for Industry and Trade, Carlos Mesquita; and Minister for Education and Human Development, Carmelita Namashulua.
Ville Skinnari will also hold meetings with representatives in Mozambique of the United Nations, other Nordic countries, the European Union, the IMF, the World Bank and the African Development Bank.
Minister Skinnari will participate in a business roundtable with representatives of the Mozambican private sector, including the CTA, EuroCamara, Beluluane Industrial Park and Finnish companies operating in Mozambique, as well as visiting a school and meeting members of the Finnish community living in Mozambique.
The minister’s visit to Maputo aims to strengthen diplomatic relations and the long-term development partnership between the Republic of Finland and the Republic of Mozambique, to discuss Finland’s current cooperation for development programmes in Mozambique, to express Finland’s support for the progress made in the peace process, and to learn about the work carried out in the education sector through the FASE program, to which Finland channels most of its support.
