BCI and Mafalala Museum: Walking through Mozambique's cultural heritage side-by-side

Mozambican writer Sónia Sultuane will launch her new book ‘Roda das Encarnações’ (‘Wheel of Incarnations’) next Wednesday, November 9, at the Fernando Leite Couto Foundation in Maputo.
Speaking about the book, Sultuane explains that its title did not come about by chance, but from the fact that she considers herself to have had a second chance at life. The book’s main reflections centre on spirituality, the human side that one can feel but not touch. So Sultuane’s new offering does not end with the beauty of poetry; it is more about the soul’s deep questioning, as the author admits.
Indeed, Sultuane’s loyal readers may find in the ‘Roda das Encarnações’ signs of continuity of with what the poet – as Sultuane identifies herself – has been doing in her other volumes, especially in ‘No Colo da Lua’ (‘In the Lap of the Moon’). But it’s not just that. Sónia Sultuane wants her readers to venture further in this new poetic offering, by finding in the word the strength to fight. “I want the readers to find the will to live in the book, the faith, and to respect the opportunity to be alive,” she says.
‘Roda das Encarnações’ comes out under the auspices of the Fernando Leite Couto Foundation with a preface by Francisco Noa, and will be presented at the launch by Fernando Couto.
