Stall holders at the Mercado Museu, in an upper class Maputo neighbourhood, have forcibly removed metal plates from the perimeter wall of the new market construction site in protest at the delay in the works.
In fact, sellers of the Museu Market this Thursday moved forward with an action of revolt overturning the sealing plates in place for the construction of the new market.

The action was further meant to protest against the delay in the construction of the new market. The sellers consider that the fenced and prohibited area only causes them losses in sales.
The works on the fenced site were to have started on December 1, 2016 and the deadline was for February 28, 2017.
Sellers of the Museu are outraged at the non-evolution of the works.
Because they had no satisfactory response from the Maputo Municipality, the vendors chose to use force to remove the metal plates in place as a way to create conditions to facilitate the business they develop.
