Mozambique: Traffic normalised on N4 Maputo-South Africa road
Police in Tete on Monday arrested 42-year-old Patricio Manhoso for trying to sell his four-year-old son.
According to news agency AIM, this is the first case of its kind reported by the police in Tete. Previous cases involved the abduction of albino people.
In telephone negotiations with the alleged buyer of his son, Manhoso initially asked for 300,000 meticais, though the asking price dropped to 200,000 meticais over the course of the day.
Manhoso explained to reporters that the deal fell through when the buyer decided to contact the police instead.
Police spokeswoman in Tete, Lourdes Ferreira, said the collaboration of the buyer made Manhoso’s capture possible.
