Victims of the Mbuzini tragedy will be honoured by family and friends on Wednesday, with the laying of wreaths on their graves, in Lhanguene Cemetery, Maputo city.
Family members and friends of Samora Machel and his collaborators decided together to pay a simple tribute to loved ones who perished on 19 October 1986 in the hills of Mbuzini, South Africa, said Odzi Honwana, spokesman to the group.
Associated with this initiative are survivors Filimone Jossefa Machango, Manuel Jairosse Campira, Daniel Samuel Cuna, Fernando Manuel João Vasco Langa, Carlos Djambo, João Rendição, Eusebio Guido Martinho, Josefa Machango, Vladimir Novosolov and Almeida Pedro Pidjoro.
“For each of the families, these special people who left our lives never left us completely. By remembering the anniversary of their death, we remember how each one was and always will be important to us. No one can take away from us the longings we feel, which is why we remember the passage of these 30 years with nostalgia,” the spokesman said.
