More than 200 houses were destroyed by gales in Caia district , Sofala province, central Mozambique, over the weekend.
Five schools, two health centres and eight places of worship were also destroyed .
According to Cremildo Cuna, technician at Caia District Planning and Infrastructure Services, rain accompanied by strong winds also knocked down electrical poles, causing a blackout which lasted for several hours.
