Mozambique: Minister joins surgical team to participate in a thyroidectomy
Twitter / Savana newspaper article warning reader against the fake website
The independent weekly “Savana”, and its sister publication, the daily newssheet “Mediafax”, have warned that a fake website has been set up, by persons unknown, in the name of “Savana”.
The website is www.jornalsavana.com, and this title may lead the unwary to believe it has something to do with “Savana” and its parent company, Mediacoop.
A closer look, however, reveals that the “Savana” logo is in a different size and typeface from the paper’s genuine logo. As for the content, much of it is not from “Savana”, but has been lifted from other publications, some of them with a sharply different editorial line from “Savana”
In a warning note published on Friday, “Savana” says “the intention is to distort the editorial line of our paper, and to create confusion among our readers. It is an act of deliberate disinformation”.
“We inform our readers that this page does not belong to this paper, and we take no responsibility for its contents”, announced the real “Savana”.
The paper has informed the relevant authorities about the fake website so that they can take appropriate measures. Mediacoop is also working through its technical services to attempt to block the fake website, which has hijacked the name of its most prestigious publication.
