The organizers of the 60th edition of the Maputo International Fair (FACIM) announced that preparations for the event, considered Mozambique’s largest exhibition of goods and services, are 90% complete, one week ahead of the official opening.
“I would say with great satisfaction that we are already 90% complete in what we believe is the level of execution of the work leading up to the official opening,” said Sérgio Macuácua, director of FACIM, on the sidelines of the event’s official launch this Monday (18) in Maputo.
FACIM 2025 will take place from Monday, August 25 to Sunday, August 31, at the Ricatla venue in the municipal district of Marracuene, Maputo province.
Participation from 3,150 exhibitors from 27 countries is expected – including 800 foreigners and 2,350 nationals – with approximately 70,000 visitors, according to the government’s announcement on August 5th.
According to Sérgio Macuácua, ongoing work at the site includes the assembly of pavilions and booths for national and international exhibitors. This year’s edition will feature the province of Gaza and the neighbouring Republic of South Africa as exhibitors of honour.
The organization also plans to include the participation of the Defence and Security Forces, with a display of military and police equipment. The objective, according to Macuácua, is “to show that people should not be afraid of service, but rather see an opportunity in the civic sector”. Macuácua argued that these forces should take advantage of the platform to promote their services and their respective value chain.
One of the technological innovations at FACIM 2025 is the adoption of a digital platform for registration, ticket purchases and reservations for conference rooms and business meetings. The director emphasized that national exhibitors are “taking the lead” in this digitalization process, in collaboration with the Ministry of Communications and Digital Transformation, also including public companies that will present using digital technologies.
In total, 17 booths will be set up, nine of which will be themed and eight will be for public institutions and national companies.
FACIM is held annually and aims to showcase Mozambique’s economic potential, promoting business and investment opportunities for both the national and international business sector.
