ExxonMobil supports care to children in need in Maputo

250 children benefited from the partnerships with Makobo, Mamana Wa Kurula and Infantãrio Primeiro de Maio

The annual holiday season campaign distributed more than one ton of food and other essential items to children

ExxonMobil Moçambique, Limitada (ExxonMobil) partnered with nonprofit organizations and welfare institutions for a series of community programs as part of the annual holiday season campaign to bring support and care to 250 children in need in Maputo during the holiday season.

As part of ExxonMobil’s on-going efforts to promote food security in Mozambique, ExxonMobil’s employees and their family members contributed with cash and in-kind donations to support Plataforma Makobo’s food security initiative for vulnerable persons in Maputo’s Costa do Sol neighbourhood. ExxonMobil volunteers cooked and distributed nutritious meals for over 150 children at Costa do Sol and distributed toys and clothes.

The campaign also included a visit to the ‘Infantário Primeiro do Maio’ in Maputo city and the Mamana Wa Kurula Orphanage in the district of Boane. The Primeiro de Maio Infantário provides shelters for children in need, including orphans and children with disabilities and chronic illnesses, while the Orphanage, which ExxonMobil has supported since 2018, offers care services for 60 young girls who either are orphans or separated from their families due to hardships.

During the visits, the volunteers distributed a ton of rice, flour, cereals and beans; five thousand diapers and wipes; 150 cans of formula and fresh milk as well as 650 packs of menstrual hygiene pads and other essential goods to support nutrition, hygiene and other needs of the children during the 2023 school year.
