Mozambique: Lenna Bahule is about to launch 'Kumlango' in Casa Velha, Maputo

Last Friday marked the 91st anniversary of one of Mozambique and Africa’s greatest architects, Pancho Guedes, born on the 15th May in 1925.
An exhibition which opened on Thursday 12 May at the Foundation Fernando Leite Couto in Maputo entitled “Obrigado, Pancho!” pays tribute to the architect and artist who died last year.
The exhibition, curated by Christine Cibert, consists of photographs, sculptures, painting and architectural works that depict the various facets of Guedes’ talent.
On Tuesday May 17 at 6:00 p.m., there will be a short film screening followed by talk on Guedes with engineer Armando Monteiro, writer Luis Bernardo Honwana, architect José Forjaz & curator Christine Cibert, and on Thursday, a debate on architectural heritage and its future in Maputo with Luis Lage, Júlio Carrilho and Philipp Schauer.
Also as part of this exhibition and throughout the month of May the ‘Maputo a Pé’ tour of Pancho Guesdes’ works, led by Jane Flood, will leave Fundação Fernando Leite Couto every Tuesdays and Thursdys at 10h30m, Saturdays and Sundays at 11h15m.
