Exhibition in Lisbon brings Mozambican and Portuguese artists together

The Materiais Transitórios (Transient Materials) exhibition, featuring works by 30 artists from Mozambique and Portugal, opened yesterday at the National Society of Fine Arts (SNBA) in Lisbon.
The show, curated by João Silverio, features a selection of works by Portuguese-speaking artists from Mozambique and Portugal with a strong sculptural component, and has been put together by the PLMJ Foundation, established by the law firm A.M. Pereira, Sáragga Leal, Oliveira Martins, Judice and Associates.
The aim of the show is “to contribute to a reflection on the artistic production of the last few decades” . It includes recent acquisitions of some of the exhibited artists’ works”.
The PLMJ foundation says the exhibition is one of a series sharing the collection with the public in partnership with institutions with a significant presence in the Portuguese art scene, such as the National Society of Fine Arts.
The PLMJ Foundation has been developing art projects with artists of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP) through exhibitions, acquisitions for the art collection, and book publishing.
Alexandra Mesquita, Ângela Ferreira, Bruno Pacheco, Carlos Bunga, Carlos Pinheiro, Célia Domingues, Fernanda Fragateiro, Francisco Tropa, Gonçalo Barreiros, Gonçalo Mabunda, Hugo Canoilas, Joana Vasconcelos, João Galrão, João Paulo Feliciano, João Pedro Vale, Jorge Días, José Pedro Croft, Kester, Leonor Antunes, Noé Sendas, Nuno Sousa Vieira, Pedro Cabrita Reis, Pedro Tudela, Pedro Valdez Cardoso, Raquel Feliciano, Ricardo Jacinto, Rita Sobral Campos, Rodrigo Oliveira, Rui Chafes, Rui Sanches, Susana Anágua, Susana Gaudêncio and Teresa Henriques are represented.
The works will be displayed in the SNBA, Lisbon, until March 23.
