The Bank of Mozambique (BM) says EURONET, the new payment systems, will come into operation in Mozambique next year.
The governor of the Bank of Mozambique, Rogério Zandamela, said on Wednesday in Xai-Xai, Gaza, that the new operating system will increase the reliability of the national financial system.
“We want to get to a point where we have interoperability, which means a customer can do bank-to-bank, bank-to-e-money institution transactions. We are regulators: we have to level opportunities, and we cannot afford to have one or two institutions in control of an infrastructure which is at the heart of our system, in a monopoly of small groups. This will not be allowed: that is very clear,” Zandamela said.
