EU confirms Renamo’s request for mediation to Mozambique’s crisis

The European Union (EU) confirms the existence of a request by the opposition Renamo (Mozambique National Resistance) for mediation in the political and military crisis in Mozambique, a diplomatic source from the EU told Lusa.

The request, reported on Monday by the Mozambican electronic daily Mediafax, was presented by Renamo during the visit to Maputo last week, of the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Vice President of the European Commission, Federica Mogherini, said the same source, without presenting any more details.
