Mozambique: FAZSOI participate in specialised Maintenance Programme
Sven Kühn von Burgsdorff’s four-year mission as the Head of the European Union Delegation in Mozambique ended on Wednesday. Kühn von Burgsdorff said he was leaving the country with high hopes that the government and Renamo would soon sign a final peace agreement.
Speaking to the press after bidding farewell to President Nyusi, the head of the EU delegation in Mozambique said that the country was at an important juncture in the establishment of peace, and that he was convinced that the understandings between the government and Renamo would soon culminate in a final agreement .
Four years after taking over the EU delegation in September 2014, Kühn von Burgsdorff added that, despite the financial crisis and natural disasters, Mozambique was experiencing economic growth that could help reduce poverty in the country.
The European Union’s 28 member states are Mozambique’s largest trading partner, investor and donor.
