The director of the Civil Society Support Mechanism Foundation, João Pereira, says it is essential to create conditions for Renamo leader Afonso Dhlakama to come out of the bush and lead peace talks with the government.
In an interview with VOA, Pereira says that he is looking forward to the resumption of talks between the government and Renamo today with great anticipation, and hopes that a platform for returning peace to Mozambique can be found.
According to the academic, it would be very helpful that this time Mozambicans set a platform for a lasting peace.
Pereira further advocates that the parties must find a way to stop military hostilities.
Dhlakama has not been seen in public for some time, but the indications are that he is somewhere in the Gorongosa mountains in central Mozambique.
