Mozambican poet, writer and social activist Énia Lipanga is representing Mozambique at the International Conference on Inclusive Cultural and Creative Industries in Mauritius. The event will bring together representatives of cultural and creative industries to promote gender equality and prevent violence in the cultural and artistic sector.
The conference, organized by the Indian Ocean Commission with the support of the French Development Agency, brings together representatives of Cultural and Creative Industries from six countries in the region: Comoros, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique, Réunion and Seychelles.
Énia Lipanga, known for her social activism in defence of human rights, inclusion of people with disabilities and the use of art as a tool for social transformation, will participate as a speaker and special guest at the event’s round tables and cultural activities.
During the conference, key topics will be discussed, such as: a deeper understanding of sexual and gender-based violence in ICCs; the valorization of good practices and deconstruction of stereotypes; the creation of operational recommendations for safe and equitable cultural environments; and the dissemination of produced tools, such as regional diagnoses and online courses (MOOCs), among professionals, institutions and academic circles.
