Vroon Offshore Services (VOS) reported it has fixed a charter with Italian oil company Eni on a long-term drilling project off Mozambique for two dynamic positioning class 2-capable platform supply vessels (PSVs)
Eni’s drilling campaign – undertaken by the drill ship SAIPEM 12000 – will resume in the second half of December, after a suspension due to the Covid-19 pandemic and is expected to last about seven months.
Overcoming some logistical challenges due to Covid-19, the two 80-m PSVs, VOS Princess and VOS Principle, both completed the necessary special surveys and are now proceeding to African waters, where they will commence work in the coming weeks, said VOS.
2016-built VOS Princess, under the management of VOS Singapore, had spent the earlier part of this year on an Indian charter, performing supply and accommodation duties. The PSV’s docking and special survey were conducted in early November at the Keppel Shipyard in Singapore.
VOS Principle, also built in 2016, is managed by VOS Genoa, and has previously worked for Eni in the region during 2019 and 2020. Its docking and special survey were carried out in Italy and Greece, before departure to Mozambique.
