Emirates airline announced on Monday (13 October) the immediate suspension of ticket issuance by travel agents in Mozambique. The measure took effect the same day and significantly changes the procedures for Emirates’ sales and reservation management in the country.
According to an official communication signed by Abdul De Nurmahomed, Emirates GSA Customer Sales and Service Team Leader [at Rogers Aviation], any ticket reissuance – such as date changes – must from now on be carried out exclusively through the company’s general sales office in Mozambique.
The note sent to travel partners also states that all necessary approvals must be requested in advance from Emirates, with agents prohibited from making changes without the company’s express authorisation. Additional instructions on the new ticket management process will be issued in due course.
“We appreciate your cooperation and support in complying with these new instructions,” the document says. It does not specify the reasons for the change but suggests it is intended to strengthen internal control over ticket issuance.
The decision directly affects the operations of Mozambican travel agencies, which will no longer have the autonomy to manage Emirates tickets and will rely entirely on the company’s official structure in the country.
