Mozambique: Three sentenced to 30 years for kidnapping ; one still at large after jailbreak

Following the indictment by the Central Office to Combat Corruption (GCCC), the City of Maputo Judicial Court (TJCM) has scheduled the trial of the defendants of the so-called ‘Embraer case’ for the 27th of February.
The defendants in this case are José Ricardo de Zuzarte Viegas, Mateus Gentil Lisboa Zimba and Paulo Francisco Zucula.
In process 52/GCCC/2016-IP, the three defendants are accused of the improper use of public funds in the process of purchase, sale and rental of aircraft, and improper payments by the company Embraer in favour of some managers of the company LAM, SA, and senior officials of the Mozambican state.
The indictment of the GCCC dates from January 9, 2018 and the case runs in the 8th Criminal Section of the TJCM under number 04/2018/8ª.
