Workers of the Mozambican Tuna Company (Ematum) demonstrated yesterday morning at one of the entrances to Maputo port for the payment of January, February and 13th month wages.
Many are in a difficult financial situation and are unable to pay the rent or their children’s school expenses because wages have not been paid, and they complain that they have no contact with management and that the employer is not available to talk to them.
The workers also claim that the deductions made by the company for social security have not been channelled to the INSS.
Our reporting team went to Ematum headquarters in Maputo, but it was not possible to obtain a reaction from the company management, as no employees were in the offices.
