Actions to halt the progress of insurgents in the province of Cabo Delgado continue. Various branches of the Defence and Security Forces (FDS) have carried out daily deployments in the districts affected by the terrorist attacks since October 2017. However, the group continues to sow terror and mourning in the province.
Information reaching ‘Carta’ indicates that, on Thursday of last week, the group again raided Manica village, in the administrative post of Mucojo, Macomia district, where they looted belongings, burned huts and kidnapped four girls.
Just when the population thought that the worst was over, the group returned the following night (Friday), and stayed until Saturday, ‘Carta de Moçambique’ sources report.
This time, the group reportedly abducted seven more women, bringing to 11 the total kidnapped between Thursday and Saturday. One source says that one of the victims was forced to leave her newborn son.
The situation, sources say, has again restricted the circulation of passenger transport between the Mucojo and Macomia. the district capital. The population of Manica village reportedly fled to the main village of Mucojo.
Sources claim that the FDS at the Mucojo administrative post headquarters village and in the district of Macomia were not called in to provide assistance.
