Power supply has been restored to the Nampula Palace of Justice after an almost one-month-long power cut.
Deputising for the provincial director of justice, Abilio Gany said the suspension in the electricity supply was the result of non-payment of one Electricity of Mozambique [EDM] bill.
“There was indeed some setback last week regarding a contractor’s energy bill at the completion of the construction [of the courthouse],” Gany said.
Gany also said that the water supply has also been restored.
The new Nampula courts building [Palácio de Justiça] was inaugurated last June, and houses various administration of justice bodies.
Similar “palaces” are being set up across the country, as complexes that bring together, in the same place, courts, offices of the prosecution services, the Legal Aid Institute (IPAJ), the Criminal Investigation Service (SERNIC), and other components of the administration of justice.
Budgeted at 120 million meticais (about two million US dollars at current exchange rates), the Nampula Palace of Justice was financed by the Danish government.
