Venezuela announces closure of Norway, Australia embassies
The Indian Republic / Egyptian media today published what they say is the first photo of hijacker, Seif El Din Mustafa
The Egypt Air plane hijacker, identified as Seif El Din Mustafa, has been arrested.
The plane, with more than 60 passengers on board, was forced to land at Larnaca Airport in Cyprus this morning.
It’s understood some passengers were held hostage by Mustafa who was reportedly demanding the release of female prisoners from Egypt.
SA-based orthodox priests on board
Eyewitness News this morning confirmed that two South African-based priests were on board the EgyptAir plane.
EWN confirmed that the two Greek Orthodox priests were in Egypt where Bishop Nicodimus Boulaksis
was ordained as a bishop on Sunday.
They were on the EgyptAir flight that left Alexandria this morning and was later forced to land in Cyprus.
Father Gerassimos Venturas from the Orthodox Church in Johannesburg says they were on their way to Cairo to catch a connecting flight back home.
“At about 9:15am I received a phone call that they’re were let free and are safe.”
