Mozambique: Over US$199.5 million for fuel imports in Q1
Mozambique Electricity (EDM) will refurbish the Mocuba substation in the centre of the country in preparation for the connection to the grid of the first large-scale photovoltaic power plant in Mozambique
The Mocuba power plant is due to start operating in 2019. The interconnection “will improve the supply of energy to the central and northern regions of Mozambique, permitting the flow of electrical energy from the Solar Park of Mocuba to about 175,000 households”, Siemens, the company responsible for remodelling the substation, has announced.
In addition to installing new equipment, the project will also install medium voltage power lines connecting the substation with the solar park.
From there, the Mocuba substation will link through to the substation in Quelimane, the provincial capital of Zambézia.
