Eight provinces will be without electricity for 11 hours on Sunday, Mozambique Electricity (EDM) has announced. The power outage will allow the preventive maintenance work carried out annually in conjunction with the Cahora Bassa Hydroelectric Plant.
A statement issued on Tuesday announces outages from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the city of Maputo, and from 5:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Manica, Sofala, Tete, Zambézia , Nampula, Niassa and Cabo Delgado provinces.
In the city of Nampula, the power cut will affect the supply of drinking water, the Fund for Investment and Heritage of Water Supply (FIPAG) says.
Companies and institutions that are not able to cease working will be obliged to use generators.
