The Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique (CTA) says Mozambique has fallen three places in the Doing Business ranking because of deficiencies in implementing reforms approved last year.
The private sector does not dispute that sufficient reforms have been put in place for Mozambique to rise in the World Bank’s Doing Business 2020 ranking, but points out that the problem lies in their implementation by the business community and the government.
Mozambican entrepreneurs are apprehensive about Mozambique’s decline in the ranking, fearing its effects on attracting foreign investment.
The Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique urges all players in the business environment to roll up their sleeves and improve the country’s current position as 138th in the Doing Business 2021 log.
