Manuel Zindoga also reported that members of Renamo, at the level of Manica province, have gone through difficult times: “The party Frelimo [Liberation Front of Mozambique, in power] is chaisng our members, torturing them , besides abducting and and then killing them. The members who are being killed are “, in addition to cases of vandalised infrastructure, listed the deputy head of the Renamo bench in the provincial assembly of Manica.
Manuel Zindoga “repudiates the acts of persecution, kidnappings and assassinations” of Renamo members, “especially in Manica province.” “Who is behind all this is the party Frelimo” accused the opposition leader.
Frelimo rejects accusations and counter-attacks
But the head of the Frelimo party bench, in the provincial assembly of Manica, Manuel Cebola, rejects the accusations of the main opposition party.
“The killings are emerging around the corner, we are monitoring because they are members of Renamo but also of Frelimo. We have heard [information about] the killing of régulos (chiefs) , first secretaries, members of Frelimo. So I do not see the reason for Renamo to be accusing Frelimo as the protagonist of these actions, “argued Manuel Cebola.
At the same time, the Frelimo leader strikes back:. “We are following all the activities and the effort that the president of Frelimo and the Republic of Mozambique is doing to request dialogue as the primary means to stop hostilities But others are not to consider all of this and want to rule the provinces, in violation of the Constitution, particularly Article 6, ” he said, thus referring to Renamo.
PRM not aware of the case
Meanwhile, Elcidia Filipe, spokesperson of the Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) in Manica, said that the corporation has no official knowledge of the event.
“Whenever something happens, Renamo does not report the case to the police, it is difficult to know. It should report to the authorities for us to start efforts to capture the promoters of the action,” said Elcidia Filipe, who understands that the main opposition party should complain to the police sub-unit nearest to the place where the bodies have been found.
It is recalled that the province of Manica, in central Mozambique, is one of the six provinces where Renamo claims to have won the elections in 2014 and has been the scene of military clashes in recent months.
Meanwhile, police in Tete, in the centre of the country, announced that it is clueless about the murder of another leader of Renamo in Moatize, but said that an investigation had begun.
Renamo, the main opposition force in Mozambique, accused the Defence and Security Forces to have shot dead, on Thursday (September 22.), Armindo Antonio, party delegate in the Moatize district, Tete province. The Tete leader was shot as he left a regular meeting of the provincial assembly.
