O País / Doctor João Fumane
João Fumane, Director of Maputo Central Hospital, died in South Africa.
A family source confirmed by telephone that Fumane had a sudden malaise and was taken to a South African hospital for treatment. However, there is still little information on the disease that killed the Director-General of the largest hospital in the country.
João Fumane graduated from Universidade Eduardo Mondlane, where he studied from 1983 to 1989, and from 2001 to 2009 he was Director of the National Institute of Health. He was also in charge of the National Bioethics Committee for Health, and was Director of Maputo Central Hospital since April 2012.
