The First Secretary of Frelimo in Sofala Province, Paulo Majacunene, recently said that all Mozambicans must persuade the Renamo leader, Afonso Dhlakama, to return to dialogue and abandon the barbarity that has been set off in the country.
Speaking to reporters on the side-lines of a working visit to Munhava, in the city of Beira, Majacunene said that calls should be directed to Dhlakama, who refuses to respond to the invitation that has been repeatedly submitted to him by President Filipe Nyusi to attend a face-to-face meeting.
“Persuasion for political dialogue should be directed to Afonso Dhlakama, because the President has already voiced his willingness to meet. It is Dhlakama who is promoting the war”, he said.
