The Magige-Ruace stretch of road in Gurué district, Zambézia province, is in an appalling condition, hindering the flow of agricultural products to market. Hauliers who use the road are calling for prompt improvements.
An about 40-kilometre stretch of the road, from the town of Magige to the administrative post of Ruace, is in a particularly dire state.
The Minister of Industry and Commerce, Carlos Mesquita, has acknowledged the negative impact that the current state of the road has on the sale and marketing of agricultural products, and says the government is working to ameliorate the situation.
Minister Mesquita recently paid a working visit to Zambézia, visiting industrial initiates in Gurué and Mocuba districts and the city of Quelimane.
