Dentsu Aegis Network Mozambique yesterday announced the official opening of its office in Maputo, Mozambique.
The opening is part of the multinational’s African expansion plan, and a joint venture with the ‘The Number Seven’ a holding comprising, among other companies, the advertising agency Ogilvy Moçambique, already operating in the local market for more than 21 years, WAAU digital content production studio, a participant in the renowned Ekay sound studio and, internationally, Sunshine Brand Design, of Cape Town, Lisbon, Nairobi and Geneva.
Originally from Japan, the Dentsu Aegis Network is established in 145 countries spread across five continents, and employs a staff of approximately 40,000. With an investment of more than US$300 million in the African market over the last year, the multinational currently has the fastest organic growth in the advertising market in Africa.
Dawn Rowlands, Executive Director of the Dentsu Aegis Network in Sub-Saharan Africa, said:
“This Dentsu Aegis Network investment in Mozambique is based on our belief in the Mozambican market and in the know-how of The Number Seven group, which not only has brands that have been in the field for more than 21 years, but also a multidisciplinary model that will allow us to implement a unique operational model, supported by integrated expertise centres and with very innovative tools for the market.”
The communication agency’s main focus will be helping local clients and brands develop integrated communication strategies that will see businesses and investment optimisation progress hand in hand with good ideas.
“We believe that the joint investment of these two companies should be understood as a sign of confidence in Mozambique and it is a source of pride for us all, since it is the first time that an advertising multinational of this size has invested capital in our country,” João dos Santos, founder and chairman of The Number Seven Group, adds.
Cátia de Sousa, Director General of DAN Mozambique, summed the moment up by stating at the launch that “DAN marks the beginning of a new era in communication and marketing in Mozambique as it brings a new approach with full access to tools, areas such as digital or Out Of Home (OHH) advertising that will force the market to leap forward, to become professional and evolve to where many of the other African markets are already walking”.
Although DAN Mozambique is only now officially opening, it already has large companies and brands such as Cervejas de Moçambique, Barclays, PeP and Colgate in its customers portfolio.
