Mozambique: President Chapo concludes visit to Japan, TICAD participation "extremely positive"

President Nyusi announced yesterday that the memorandum of understanding on the disarmament, demobilisation and reintegration of Renamo’s armed men signed in August, between the government and Renamo would be made public to give greater transparency to the process, and so that Mozambicans would cherish it as a positive force for effective and lasting peace.
The memorandum and its introduction, the president said, presents basic principles and objectives and defines the concepts and institutional framework of the process, the process itself, its phases of implementation and monitoring, and a general timetable for its implementation, with deadlines.
The head of state was speaking during the official launch of the disarmament, demobilisation and reintegration process in the presence of the international military experts, ambassadors and members of the Mozambican government and Renamo that make up the teams created for the purpose.
