Defamation case against Venancio Mondlane – Watch

Venâncio Mondlane, who was yesterday barred from running for Maputo mayor as head of Renamo’s list for the city of Maputo by the Electoral Comissio (CNE) and who is named in a defamation proceeding, appeared at the Maputo City Attorney’s Office on Monday.
With Renamo members protesting outside, Venâncio Mondlane arrived at the Maputo City Attorney General’s Office still unaware of the contents subpoena.
The hearing lasted for about two hours. On leaving, Mondlane said he was accused of defaming Councillor KaMubukwane of Maputo Municipal District in the case of the attempted sale of the Codam football field for US$3 million.
Mondlane maintains that the case is politically motivated.
