Mozambique’s Youth Parliament is urging Mozambicans to pressurise international creditors to be held accountable for Ematum, MAM and Proindicus debt.
The president of the Youth Parliament, Salomão Muchanga, says the time has come for Mozambicans to unite against all those who have allowed the state to borrow illegally.
Muchanga made his remarks in Maputo on Tuesday during a symposium on “Illegal Debts and the Future of Mozambique”, where he said that the IMF and World Bank’s conduct in this matter connote connivance and co-participation in Mozambique’s indebtedness.
The symposium on the illegal debts comes as a Mozambican government delegation is travelling to Washington to meet the IMF and the World Bank and review technical assistance programmes for the country.
