Mozambique: State reclaims idle land
Notícias
Local residents of Nhandimo and Nhanchicorre on the Chidenguele coast of Gaza’s Mandlakazi district experienced “an atmosphere of unrest” after a dead whale washed up on the shore, Noticias reports.
According to community leader Cristóvão Nhandimo, the animal showed signs of injury and “was immediately shared among the local community”, Noticias reports.
The rare animal was estimated to weigh about 400 kilograms, and was four metres long and 1.5 metres wide.
Nhandimo said the whale was relatively small compared to the last one stranded locally, which was 15 metres long and appeared in 2015.
