Mozambican police have announced that Maputo judicial court has confirmed the arrest of Danish Abdul Satar, extradited to Mozambique from Italy two weeks ago.
Satar is suspected of being involved in the abductions that have been plaguing the country, and Maputo in particular, for almost five years.
According to police spokesman Inacio Dina, the investigation is still ongoing, and the Attorney General’s office and the Criminal Investigation Police are treating the matter carefully, so that the real culprit can be confirmed.
“So far there is no evidence of the involvement of Satar in the kidnappings, so we will have to wait for the completion of the investigation, although there was strong evidence of his involvement in the crimes he is accused of,” Dina told reporters.
