Dams in the south of Mozambique continue to record low water levels.
The situation is worsening in Maputo province, especially as regards the Pequenos Libombos dams, which is currently at 29% of its storage capacity, and Corumana, with just 34%.
The Massingir dam in Gaza stands at around 34% of capacity – about 334 million cubic metres
Hélio Banze, Director-General of Regional Administration of Southern Waters [Águas do Sul], says that a plan to ensure better water management is being implemented to mitigate the situation.
