Cuba and Mozambique have strengthened their inter-parliamentary relations on Tuesday with the visit to Havana of Esperança Laurinda Francisco Nhiuane Bias, President of the Assembly of the Republic of that African nation.
Since she arrived in the Cuban capital on June 7, leading a delegation from her country, the Mozambican parliamentary leader has held talks with Cuban Parliament Speaker Esteban Lazo, among other activities.
During that meeting, which took place on Monday at the National Capitol, the seat of the Cuban Legislature, Lazo expressed his satisfaction at receiving the representative of Mozambique to talk about the present and future of relations between the two sister nations, considering the existing bilateral relations.
He emphasized the honor of meeting with the visitor on a date close to the 49th anniversary of Mozambique’s independence to consolidate diplomatic and parliamentary relations, which, he said, have been stable and with full respect for the particular interests of our governments.
He also acknowledged the Cuban cooperation in the African country, which confirms that Cuba prioritizes political and cooperation relations with the Government and people of Mozambique.
The Mozambican visitor, in turn, expressed her gratitude for the warmth and hospitality she has received in Cuba since her arrival here on June 7, heading a parliamentary delegation from her country.
In statements to reporters, she acknowledged the multifaceted support that Cuba has provided to Mozambique over several decades, especially in education and health.
She congratulated the Cuban people and Government for the progress achieved amid a complex economic situation.
