Passenger services on the Lichinga-Cuamba railway line resumed this Thursday, after an interruption caused by recent rainfall in Niassa.
A statement from the North Development Corridor explains that a technical team was able to remove the debris covering the rails and stabilise the situation so that locomotives could circulate safely.
“Trains will start again on the 14th of this month, after the inspection of the line has been completed,” the statement read.
The train to Lichinga from the commercial city of Cuamba did not run on Tuesday, leaving many passengers, some of whom had already bought tickets, stranded.
