The conference, which is co-organized by the Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique (CTA) and African Influence Exchange (AIE), aims to present the plans and strategic infrastructure projects in the Oil & Gas sector, to the private sector. These projects will create opportunities in the areas of construction and logistics for the Mozambican market.
The Conference will address current opportunities in the sector, with key agenda items including development projects and plans in underwater, midstream and downstream operations. The anchor, transport and logistics projects will also be explored.
According to Prakash Prehlad, Vice-President of CTA, one of the Conference’s main objectives is to ensure that the Mozambican private sector has access to information on the developments and opportunities in the Oil & Gas industry and to present the operators’ strategies.
“One of the great battles that the CTA has been waging is the attraction of large companies to carry out projects including small and medium enterprises, and to incorporate local content. Our natural resources can only have effects on our economy and our companies when we have infrastructure in place,” explained Prakash, stressing that “it is within this context that CTA brings this conference with an international standard, on the one hand…and on the other hand to get the main potential investors to come and tell what is going to happen in this area in the next few years because this information will allow SMEs to prepare to capitalize on these opportunities.”
The Vice-President of CTA ended by encouraging the participation of Mozambican business people in the conference and believes that this will be the turning point for developments in the gas sector and said: “we are practicing promotional prices for access to the conference for companies registered in the CTA database.” “There will be a clear definition of what it takes to access the opportunities offered by these multinationals. We know that SASOL is going to invest a lot this year, values above one billion dollars, so we want to know what opportunities there are for the local small and medium enterprises, “said Chivambo Mamadhussen, Vice President of Mineral Resources and Hydrocarbons at CTA. Erena Karsas of African Influence Exchange added that the conference will be attended by all national economic ministries and more than 200 delegates, representing more than 100 domestic and foreign companies.
