The Confederation of Economic Associations (CTA) and the Alberto Cassimo Institute for Professional Training and Labour Studies (IFPELAC) have signed a memorandum of understanding for technical training in the field of labour administration for 40 micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in Cabo Delgado. The agreement will run for the next two years.
The document was signed this Tuesday, June 7, in Pemba, Cabo Delgado province, during a seminar entitled “Small companies, big businesses: The role of Business Cooperation in obtaining new contracts and creating jobs” held by +Emprego, a Camões IP program co-financed by the European Union in partnership with Portuguese Cooperation.
The deputy director-general of IFPELAC, Adelino Novais, believes that the training of micro, small and medium-sized companies will open space for new partnerships.
“The memorandum that we have just signed will make possible the training of 40 micro-, small and medium-sized companies, allowing SMEs to establish new partnerships,” he said.
CTA president Agostinho Vuma said that the memorandum of understanding “is relevant and will help to increase the competitiveness of these small and medium-sized companies in the province”, also underlining the interest of the CTA in “certifying 15 of these companies, because certification makes SMEs more credible and brings them closer to large projects”.
The event at the Pemba Express Hotel was organised by Media 4 Development and ‘+EMPREGO’, in partnership with the Alberto Cassimo Institute for Professional Training and Labour Studies (IFPELAC), the Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique (CTA) and the BlueBiz consultant.
The seminar had three highlights: the signing of the memorandum of understanding between IFPELAC and CTA, represented by its president Agostinho Vuma, in the field of Capacity Building for SMEs in Cabo Delgado; a workshop entitled “Small Businesses, Big Businesses: The Role of Business Cooperation in Obtaining New Contracts and Creating Jobs”; and, in the afternoon, the presentation of the “Registration platform and training needs of SMEs in Cabo Delgado” by ‘+ Employment’ and CTA.
The +EMPREGO project is co-financed by the European Union and Camões, I.P., and aims to increase economic opportunities for the population of Cabo Delgado, and in particular for young people, contributing to improving access to decent work and their income from activities directly or indirectly related to the natural gas industry.
