Cristal Restaurant management decides to close for good – Folha de Maputo report

The Cristal restaurant will not open its doors again to the public with its current management. In a message, in possession of Folha de Maputo, sent by management on behalf of Zé and Tuxa, was passed a farewell message that we pass below.

“In fact, even after mitigating the serious issues that threatened public health, there were very difficult times for this establishment, since public judgment in the Media and social networks would certainly cause irreparable damage to the clientele of the establishment – something that should have been taken care of because there was a great risk of image leakage even if INAE had not carried out the inspection, ” reads the Folha de Maputo report.

“Will it now start a “run” of restaurant operators through space – considered by many as an icon of Maputo city?”, questions the same source.

Folha de Maputo publishes this message:

Dear customers, it is with a certain nostalgia that we inform that the Restaurante e Pastelaria Cristal is definitely closed, thus marking its end. We made the corrections required by INAE and we had the authorization to reopen. However, after much thought, we conclude that conditions are not met for this. The economic situation of the country and the consequent increase in the cost of goods, and the structural problems of the building and the collector which can not be solved by us alone, are the factors that have led us to this decision. It has been almost 20 years of hard work but we are eternally grateful to all the customers, the people we met and the friends we made. We hope we have been able to provide good times to all of you. We especially appreciate the support we have received in recent days, it was essential. Now is the time to rest, we are well and curious to know what the future will bring. Estimados clientes, é com uma certa nostalgia que informamos que o Restaurante e Pastelaria Cristal está definitivamente encerrado, marcando assim o seu fim. Fizemos as correcções exigidas pelo INAE e tivemos a autorização para reabrir. No entanto, depois de muito pensarmos, concluímos que não estão reunidas condições para tal. A situação económica do país e o consequente aumento do custo das mercadorias, e os problemas estruturais do prédio e do coletor que não podem só por nós ser resolvidos, são os factores que nos levaram a esta decisão. Foram quase 20 anos de trabalho árduo mas somos eternamente gratos por todos os clientes, as pessoas que conhecemos e os amigos que fizemos. Esperamos ter conseguido proporcionar bons momentos a todos vós. Agradecemos especialmente o apoio que nos deram nos últimos dias, foi essencial. Agora é hora de descansarmos, estamos bem e curiosos por saber o que o futuro trará. Abraços e beijinhos, Zé e Tuxa.
