Criminal Investigation Police officer commits suicide with firearm in Matola

A Criminal Investigation officer committed suicide with his own police-issue firearm in the neighbourhood of Matola Santos, Maputo province, at around 7:00 a.m. yesterday, family members have revealed.

Family members say they heard shots in the garage and rushed to the scene, where they found Nhassengo, who had shot himself after setting fire to his car.

The victim’s brother, said the PIC officer had been ill for six months, but neighbours say that he had been acting normally, and were unsure as to what might have been the reason behind his death.
