Mozambique: 11 Individuals arrested in connection with the robbery and murder of motorcycle taxi ...
The commission of inquiry into the accident involving the passenger ferry Mapapai in Maputo bay, concluded that there was negligence on the part of the crew of both vessels involved.
According to Notícias, the commission of inquiry found that the accident could have been avoided if the crew of both vessels had abided by navigation rules.
Maulide Nuro, Maritime Administrator to Maputo city and province, said the crew did not use all means at their disposal to prevent the accident last June, and said that “the boats sailed close to each other, contrary to the rules of navigation”.
Nuro added that panic among the Mapapai passengers contributed to the accident, as they all ran to the same side of the boat and capsized it.
