Create Mozambique was born as ‘Pangolin’ in 1996. It was affiliated with Ogilvy in 1997 and renamed Ogilvy Mozambique in 2004. Year 2018 was one of great change, with the establishment of the joint venture with the Dentsu group, the first capital investment of a communications multinational in Mozambique, bringing new technologies, processes and digital tools to the market.
Over these 25 years, the agency has developed as the Mozambican market has opened up to the importance of advertising and marketing on the business of companies, brands and institutions. That is why talking about this area in Mozambique is synonymous with addressing the dynamic 90s, and how João dos Santos was pioneer founder of the agency.
“We were alongside brands that are crucial to the growth of Mozambique and that is why we had the opportunity to grow with them. We created the Jeito brand and all its communication campaigns in the first four years; we created the brand identity of Açúcar Nacional; we created the art of 2M and developed its art, which is so characteristic. Fortunately, we have many happy stories to tell and it will always be unfair to highlight a specific job or client'” the Create Mozambique founder comments.
Characterised as combining local knowledge with global experience, Create Mozambique is under the general direction of Cátia de Sousa, and an energetic, innovative team ready to take on challenges regardless of the communication area. With operations in advertising, public relations, brand activation, content marketing or media management, the agency focuses on digital as its area of greatest growth.
This stimulus arose in response to the challenges of the market, which forced Create Mozambique to develop new approaches, with irreverent formats and appropriate language for the public of each brand.
After 2020, a very challenging year for all sectors, Create Mozambique was the most awarded advertising agency in the country. In the Loeries, the International Festival of Africa and the Middle East, the agency brought home prizes to Mozambique – a Bronze in the Shared Value category for a very special project, Cerveja Impala, an initiative that involved local communities impacting 7,500 small farmers. And because advertising has a universal language, the Mozambican agency left its mark, winning eight awards at the Lusophone Creativity Awards.
Create Mozambique celebrates 25 years in tune with the agency’s DNA: with energy, with versatility and with the ambition to grow beyond national borders.
