The executive secretary of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP), Francisco Ribeiro Telles, is visiting Mozambique from today to Friday.
Ribeiro Telles, a Portuguese diplomat, has scheduled hearings with the President of the Republic Filipe Nyusi, with the Prime Minister, Carlos Agostinho do Rosário, and several other members of the Mozambican government, as well as with the business community.
Ribeiro Telles will also address the Africa-US Business Summit, which runs from today until the end of the week in Maputo.
The agenda announced by the Portuguese-Speaking Countries Community includes a visit to the Centre for Strategic Analysis of the CPLP (CAE-CPLP) and a lecture on the CPLP at the Joaquim Chissano University.
The Portuguese-speaking community signed a protocol with the Mozambican government in April to transfer funds mobilised to support the victims of Cyclone Idai in the order of 1 million Euros under the Solidarity Fund created to support the regions hit by the disaster.
Cyclone Idai hit central Mozambique in March and caused 603 deaths, and in April cyclone Kenneth, which struck the north of the country in April, killed 45 people.
